I count this a privilege because it means someone thinks that I have something worthy to pass on. I definitely believe we all are an expert in some area. We should pass this knowledge onto someone in a way that will benefit someone besides ourselves. Take some time to think about your gifts and talents; then think of who could benefit by learning from you. This could be the best holiday gift that you can give that will keep giving.

I wish you well in your journey to sharing the unique part of you.cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-15172790673082918352010-12-09T20:06:00.000-08:002010-12-09T20:15:18.278-08:00Share the LoveJust wanted to check in and let everyone know I am still here and still there. My thought today is "Share the Love". I always appreciate a kind gesture, deed or word. I have been trying to say things like: have a Merry Christmas, have a wonderful day, enjoy your day; whenever I am shopping, getting gas or doing errands. I think it gives a good vibe and makes me feel like I am doing my part to "Share the Love". I hope you are enjoying this Christmas season and are able to spend it with someone you care about. I am very blessed this year, I get to spend it with my children. Merry Christmas!cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-47309001016058074282010-08-18T22:45:00.000-07:002010-08-18T23:00:31.282-07:00Pray for MeSorry it has been awhile but a lot has happened in my life. First let me say that I have been blessed to know some very good neighbors, and have also lost some good neighbors.

I just got back from seeing the movie starring Julie Roberts, called, "EAT PRAY LOVE". I went with my girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed it for several reasons. This first reason, it was so nice to hang out with my girl whom I had not seen for a very long time. The second reason, it really had a message in it specifically for me (okay I took a lesson away from it specifically for me). I really felt so renewed and regenerated. At the end of the movie I found out my highschool friend was just given the news that her cancer had returned and it was terminal. I think my being a good neighbor thought for today will be, be there. Be there for your friends, be there for your family and be there for yourself. It feels good to be, there!

As always, let me know your thoughts.cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-62776321998963278712010-06-11T18:26:00.000-07:002010-06-11T18:41:54.977-07:00Animals Appreciate Good NeighborsToday I am in Chicago on a beautiful sunny day. My co-worker introduced me to a beautiful park that contained two of the largest swans I had ever seen. There were some Canadian Geese and a rabbit, there too. The park was beautifully landscaped with all kinds of foliage and fountains. My co-workers and I enjoyed a beautiful scenic walk through this Rosemont area park. That is, until we witnessed this woman throwing pinecones at one of the beautiful swans then yelling to it "if you come near me I will f@#$ kill you! I first thought 'wtf' then I realized she was afraid of the swan but instead of walking away with her children, she was taunting the poor bird by throwing things at it.

My thought: the swan was in his environment and existing peacefully until she invaded his world by challenging his serenity. Live and let live an old but wise sentiment.

Your thoughts please!cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-20349514751612605302010-04-14T17:29:00.000-07:002010-04-14T17:38:27.202-07:00No Problem!I went on my first trip to Jamaica in March. It was a very special trip, my daughter was getting married and it was a beautiful ceremony! I was able to see a whole different kind of good neighbor. I loved it! When I asked for something the answer was always, "no problem". It was as if they did not have "no" in their vocabulary. Now, I am not saying, we have to say yes to everything but how about when we have to say no, we say it without saying the word no????? A bit of a challenge, heh? Well give it a try next time and see what happens. Oh by the way, the Jamaicans are hard working, hospitable and gracious people. I will have to make another journey to the island. Yeah Man!cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-13650912488101399622010-02-22T09:59:00.000-08:002010-02-22T10:15:59.108-08:00Can you Make a Visit?Do you know someone who is in the hospital, nursing home or just not able to leave the house anymore? If you know someone like this or have a friend of a friend like this, can you make a visit? I am not saying you have to make a big production of it by staying 2 hours and making promises you can't keep. How about you just stop by for a few minutes and say hi or say you were thinking about them? I bet you will brighten their day and gain something in the process. If you don't know anyone, how about visiting your local nursing home and making a new aquaintence? Let me know what happened or didn't happen.

Life is worth living and sharing.cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-64903975037926799812010-02-15T11:37:00.000-08:002010-02-15T11:44:33.280-08:00Give It Away!Hello everybody. It is still the new year isn't it? Do you have some clothes, jeans or shoes that you have not worn for the last year or two? Give it away! Give it to your neighbor, yeah you know the one, their kids look like they dress themselves. Or someone at church, in the grocery store or wherever you have seen someone who would appreciate an addition to their wardrobe.

If you don't want to give it to someone then take it somewhere: Goodwill, Salvation Army, Thriftstore etc. Just give it away!cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-83539566767120161572010-01-26T18:29:00.000-08:002010-01-26T18:40:41.699-08:00Our Neighbor HaitiI met a gentleman on a trip to Portland. He, his cousin(3rd year resident) and father(ER doctor) were on their way to Haiti. With their own money they had bought supplies, medical supplies and food to help with the Haitian relief effort. He was a young man still in college (a pre-med student) and 24 hours ago that is all he had on his mind. Now he was on his way to help with medicine, food and his medical expertise. His name is Jordan. I thought his name so beautiful to match the beauty of his soul. This entry is dedicated to you, Jordan and your family, thank you for being a good neighbor to a country in need. I am praying for you and your family and the people of Haiti.cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-45479525018408659982010-01-14T13:38:00.000-08:002010-01-14T13:49:03.297-08:00Be a Good Neighbor to HaitiI am sure you have heard about the tragic earthquake that occured in Haiti this week (if you haven't, now you have). It was measured to be approximately 7.0. I would like to dedicatate todays blog to our Haitian neighbors that are still in Haiti and to their families abroad that are suffering. I have two sugguestions for you, if you would like to do something to help: Pray for the Haitians and look for a reputable agency to donate through (try the your local news station's websites). This is definitely an opportunity to be a good neighbor.

Please send a comment if you have family in Haiti.cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-87299557302554431502010-01-02T10:17:00.000-08:002010-01-02T10:50:10.196-08:00New Year Same Message!Happy New Year everyone! New year, same message but hopefully with some new ideas. This year I worked on all the holidays except Thanksgiving. I am not complaning, (I'm just saying!)I learned that the holidays are breeding grounds for new ways to be a good neighbor. One way for me, was to remember "it is better to give than receive". I gave alot this year too, so much, it hurt in a good way. My daughter wanted a bridal shower during the week of Thanksgiving. I agreed to it, not knowing that I would have to work that day. It was stressful, exhausting, and one of the most wonderful times in my life. It showed me what was important, and what I was willing to do to see that smile on my daughters face. So even in the midst of my "stressed out and ends of my wit" giving, I still received.

My goals this year are consistency, caring and committment.

Make three goals this year: One you can obtain, one you are not sure you can obtain, and one you think you will never obtain. Watch what happens with these goals and yourself. Let me know!cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-35747935219636330702009-12-28T12:29:00.000-08:002009-12-28T12:37:04.935-08:00Holiday ThinkingI know you probably thought oh-oh she done left. Don't worry I am not going anywhere. I have so much to write about I will have to make this a series. First being thankful. I am learning that being a good neighbor is being thankful for what I have and not feeling like I am in competition with my neighbor. I am happy for my neighbors success, new car, new clothes etc. I choose to think that I see these things to show me what I can acheive, what is possible for me and what I will have one day. So maybe you can adopt this way of thinking????cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-12438428532264596512009-11-18T11:27:00.000-08:002009-11-18T11:43:07.394-08:00Call Somebody!!!Yes, we are beginning the "holiday season" and it is time to make some calls. Don't get scared. It doesn't have to be tedious or long. Just make up your mind, your goal is to see how they are, not get their years accomplishments. At the beginning of the conversation ask them if you are calling them at a good time. And if they hesitate offer to call them back at a time they have agreed upon. Make a list of people you have been meaning to call and call somebody! Instead of Christmas shopping how about Christmas phoning???!! Let me know your thoughts, inspirations and memories....

Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Hannachah, help me here guys????!!!!cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-61950158949566612902009-11-15T10:54:00.000-08:002009-11-15T11:07:30.968-08:00Sharing Your ThanksgivingThis is something I have done a lot. I would do this on Thanksgiving and in the summer time. I would make a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings then I would invite people over (if Thanksgiving I would invite people that didn't have family or didn't have someone to spend Thanksgiving with, if summer I would just invite people that were new to the church or area). I would make the turkey, dressing, vegetables, mashed potatoes, gravy etc. You get the picture. It was so much fun and it gave me the opportunity to meet some new friends. Now you don't have to have a big budget to do this, you can ask the people you invite to bring dishes. The point of this is "Sharing Your Thanksgiving" and helping someone to feel the love!

Okay let me know how it goes and the ideas you have about this. This is my favorite meal of the year!cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-14010968909205604222009-11-13T11:51:00.000-08:002009-11-13T11:59:23.233-08:00Take Care Everybody!Sorry everyone for my slight break. I was trying to get over an ear infection and sinus infection. Thanks Jan for being a good neighbor and making me soup. My friend Jan is an excellent neighbor(my roomie) and friend. She not only made me soup, she served it to me. I just want to take this moment to thank her. Thank you Jan for your kindness, generosity and ability to put up with me. So todays entry is about taking care of one another! Next time someone you know is sick or incapacitated take care of them. You will be glad you did and so will they!cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-78525832483137906712009-11-03T23:39:00.000-08:002009-11-03T23:51:06.410-08:00Carribean Hospitality!I just came back from a 8 day carribean cruise. Sorry guys, that is why you have not heard from me in a while. Well I have to say the West Indies/Virgin Islands know how to show hospitality (shout out to all my island people)to visitors! First of all, they are not afraid to greet you with a smile and a handshake. They are willing to help strangers and to accept you eventhough if you are a foreigner. They are willing to put you up for a night or a vacation. They don't mind helping someone else profit because they know in the end it is the right thing to do. I have really learned somethings in the last eight days that I think I will help me in the future and maybe even change some of the ways I do things presently.cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-34506909733497943462009-10-21T22:41:00.000-07:002009-10-21T22:50:46.200-07:00Just Plain Old KindnessI recently flew to Anchorage for business and ended up getting a double ear infection and sinus infection. My co-worker offered to take me to the doctor and take me to pick up any prescriptions I needed. I was very appreciative and very happily surprised at her kindness. I also was plesantly surprised at the Alaskan hospitality at the clinic and at the Fred Meyer where I picked up my prescriptions and at the Captin Cook hotel where I was recooperating. I just want to say thank you to Alaska and to all you folks for your "just plain old kindness". Kindness goes a long way. I am better now and feeling great about going back to Alaska one day!cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-5862315353727898632009-10-05T10:09:00.000-07:002009-10-05T10:15:50.764-07:00Trust to the Right and Safety to the LeftCreate an environment of trust and safety. You can do this by getting to know your neighbors and letting them know you are watching out for their property. Hopefully they will indeed return the favor. Let you neighbors know when you will be out of town and ask if they would be willing to keep an eye on your place. Notice who comes and goes in your neighborhood. You will definitely benefit from a more secure and trusting environment.cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-58522570066767930902009-09-29T20:14:00.000-07:002009-09-29T20:23:38.075-07:00A Wash In Time...Okay I am going to say this and you are probably going to say, "what!" Try this just once. Wash your neighbors car. I know you are saying, "Are you crazy!" For those of you that are thinking; what is in it for me? Well, it could be a free car wash. Yeah, you are getting it, I see the light going off. Come on, it won't be so bad. Let me know what happens.cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-11925445245646210772009-09-28T20:20:00.000-07:002009-09-28T20:25:03.444-07:00Every Single WayDo you know any single moms? Do you know any tired single moms? Find a single mom that you know and ask how you can help. She'll say she is all right. Ask her again and really mean it. When she tells you what she needs, be prepared to come through for her. It will mean the world to her and you. Write me let me know what goes down.

Peace.cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-15809221126464912892009-09-21T16:11:00.000-07:002009-09-21T16:18:01.219-07:00Just One!Give one compliment every day. Be honest and purposeful. Be a little adventerous give one compliement to a different person each day. Start with the people you always wanted to talk to but were afraid to make a move. This is your opportunity, good neighbor.

Give yourself a compliment everyday (i.e. I like my eyes, legs etc.) If you are happy with yourself I think it may be easier to compliement others.cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-48775736183758693822009-08-28T10:51:00.000-07:002009-08-28T11:14:17.794-07:00Six, Not Even Close to Done!Help Someone

We all have the opportunity to help someone, sometimes we are just too distracted to act. Have you ever been rushing somewhere and notice a person looking lost and in need of some good direction? How about the person with too many bags and too many items in their bags? Did you rush by trying not to make eye contact? Only to feel ashamed or regretful for not having helped?

We all have many opportunities to lend a helping hand, why not seize the chance to act? Next time, leave early, this will give you the extra few minutes you need to make a difference.

How about just holding the door open for someone?cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-55745176415029785742009-08-27T09:40:00.000-07:002009-08-27T09:48:49.747-07:00Only Five!Find a Single Parent

Find a a single parent (Preferably someone you have met at least a few times. This will give you the opportunity and the supplies to give to your neighbor or favorite food bank. You might even stop at the food bank on your way home. Concentrate on things that have a very long shelf life but are always needed.
The challenge begins tell me your highs and lows.cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-73969239381834253432009-08-20T07:48:00.000-07:002009-08-20T08:04:24.758-07:00Three to Get ReadyPay for someone.

Pay for someone's groceries, lunch, utility bill, whatever comes to you in the situation. Get creative. I know you can think of 100 ways just on this point alone.

Here's my personal experience: I was at the airport and in a hurry (but of course!) and very hungry. I stopped at a eatery to get something to eat before boarding on my flight. My credit card was declined! I was embarrassed and didn't know what to do. A lady behind me in line offered to pay for my lunch! I thanked her and asked for her information, (I wanted repay her) she refused. She said, "just do the same for someone one else." Wow, that blew me away. I have never forgot her kindness either.

So there is my story please, tell me yours!cherbabyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16573331323603119036noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4697094364426189414.post-77184016750832892562009-08-17T12:35:00.000-07:002009-08-17T12:38:32.979-07:00Coming in at Number Two!SMILE

Yes I said it.
